Art Déco : Égyptomanie

Published on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb and the 200th anniversary of the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone, this book responds to the still considerable interest and curiosity in Egyptomania. This concept refers to a collective imagination aroused by the dream, which was nourished throughout the 19th and 20th centuries by archaeological excavations and great journeys. These major discoveries were fertile ground for creation, particularly for Art Deco artists who found inspiration in its lines and motifs.

The book, with its explicit and unpublished iconography, studies the origins and functioning of this cultural and artistic process, which was present in a multitude of disciplines: architecture, sculpture, objects, posters, sets and costumes for the performing arts and haute couture.
