Brancusi Et Ses Muses
Auteur(s) : Doïna Lemny
Women were an integral part of Constantin Brancusi's (1876-1957) creation and artistic approach, and he tried to capture the very essence of their personality. A great lover of women in general, a seducer but also a faithful friend, the sculptor exerted a certain magnetism with the women who frequented his studio and inspired his sculpture, and exchanged abundant correspondence with some of them.
This book sheds new light on Brancusi and his work by studying the nature of his female inspiration. It discusses friends, mistresses and patrons, including the Swiss dancer Marthe Lebherz, the English pianist Vera Moore, Margit Pogany, Léonie Ricou, Eileen Lane, the Baroness Renée-Irana Frachon and Agnes E. Meyer and his four daughters.
