Cahiers d'Art: a century of Modernism

Cahiers d’Art has fostered innovation within the European avant-garde for a century. Founded in Paris in 1926 by Christian Zervos (1889–1970), Cahiers d’Art – which served as a publishing house, gallery and art journal – quickly established itself as an essential platform for artists – such as Picasso, Matisse, Kandinsky, Duchamp and Dalí – as well as poets and critical thinkers – including Beckett, Bataille, Lacan… – the most influential figures of the 20th century.

Published to mark the centenary of Cahiers d’Art, this book traces its history and highlights its contribution to the art world.
