Diego Giacometti

Nouveauté

Auteur(s) : Stephan Kunz, Casimiro Di Crescenzo (dir.)

Swiss sculptor and designer Diego Giacometti (1902–1985) skilfully juggled between the applied arts and the visual arts. Long overshadowed by his brother, with whom he collaborated, he is now recognised as one of the great names in decorative arts. From the 1960s onwards, his sculptural furniture populated with funny and poetic animals won over a demanding clientele.

This monograph, the first in German, presents the life and work of Diego Giacometti, from his artistic beginnings to his success, which only began after Alberto's death in 1966. The texts highlight his career and work as an original artist. The book shows his unpublished early works, which form the basis of his later work, then his furniture creations and the elements from which he made his objects.
