Raoul Dufy : la mélodie du bonheur
Auteur(s) : Christian Briend
Exhibition at Les Franciscaines, Deauville, 27 June – 20 September 2026
Dedicated to one of the most popular artists on the French art scene in the first half of the 20th century, this exhibition catalogue pays tribute to the extraordinary diversity of Raoul Dufy’s (1877–1953) genius; far from limiting himself to easel painting alone, he was passionate about drawing, printmaking, ceramics and textile art.
The first collaboration resulting from the partnership between Les Franciscaines and the Centre Pompidou, this volume draws on the extensive collection of works by the Norman artist held by the Musée National d’Art Moderne, supplemented by a number of works from the Franciscaines’ collection. Around a hundred works, including some sixty paintings, are presented, exploring, amongst other things, his ties to Normandy and his musical inspirations.
