A leading figure of modern art and abstraction, Hans Hartung (1904-1989) left an immense body of works, from his first abstract watercolours in 1922 to his last sprayed-paint canvas. During his whole life, he never stopped leaving behind memories of his activity: a written "self-portrait" published in 1976.
This monograph, the first comprehensive one, has been thought as a long conversation with the painter. It confronts the words, archives and works of the artist.
