This book offers an original account of Florence, born of a love for the preservation of places and a desire to offer an intimate and fresh look at the beauty and age-old skills of the city's craftsmen's workshops, which make the Tuscan capital one of the most admired cities in the world.

Sixteen sections are devoted to sixteen residences - from palaces to gardens to ancient monasteries - each linked to a specific skill - for example the Palazzo Frescobaldi and the Antico Setificio Fiorentino, whose union is made indissoluble by the personalised Frescobaldi fabric, produced since time immemorial.

The book highlights the unique and historic character of the city of Florence, which jealously guards its crafts and artisans' workshops, its well-known and more hidden palaces, its gardens and its spaces dedicated to the contemporary period.
