Jean Paul Riopelle : Catalogue Raisonné Tome 4 : 1966-1971

Auteur(s) : Y. Riopelle, T. Riopelle

The Canadian-born painter Jean Paul Riopelle (1923-2002), one of the major artists of abstract painting of the 20th century second half, abandoned very early the paintbrush for the palette knife. Although he constantly renewed his style during his prolific career, his oil-painting technique was always based on three elements: volume, colour, - the first one being as important as the second -, and degree of glossiness, realised by a juxtaposition of matte and shiny paints, creating thus areas that reflect light in different ways.

This book, fourth volume of the catalogue raisonné of Riopelle's work, is devoted to the years 1966-1971 and includes all his paintings on canvas and wood, sculptures and works on paper.
