Exhibition at Het Noordbrabants Museum, 's-Hertogenbosch, April 18 - August 24, 2025

Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930-2017) is known for her iconic installations that explore the relationship between humanity and nature, and the power of the collective versus the individual. Her work emerged after World War II and during Russian oppression in Eastern Europe. In 1971, she visited the Club of Rome, where she learned about climate change. This prompted her to focus on restoring the balance between humanity and nature. Today, the power of her art, like a prediction from the past, is strikingly relevant.

This publication offers insight into the relevance of the Polish artist and her work in the current threatened context, at a time when geopolitical changes between East and West and the predictions of the Club of Rome and climate scientists are becoming a global reality. It links Magdalena Abakanowicz's work to that of contemporary artists, including Anish Kapoor, Marlene Dumas, and Kimsooja, to offer a contemporary perspective on universal issues.
