Petite histoire de l'art des jardins : le modèle fribourgeois

Nouveauté

Auteur(s) : Catherine Waeber

This first appraisal of the gardens of Fribourg from the sixteenth century to the present day sheds light on a hitherto totally ignored part of Swiss regional history, developed in the light of European garden history.

Although many of these gardens have now disappeared, old sources - geometric plans and iconographic representations, reproduced extensively in the book - give us an idea of them and what they owe to their owners, who were very often active as senior officers in the foreign service, and thus to the foreign influences they reflect. From the gardens of the Château de Gruyère to the Barberèche park designed by Jacques Wirtz, the book presents the most emblematic gardens of the Fribourg region.
