Exhibition at the Departmental Museum of Modern Art – Zervos Collection, Vézelay, 4 July – 2 November 2025
A central figure in the world of printmaking in the second half of the 20th century, Piero Crommelynck (1934–2001) was Picasso's engraver at the end of his life and forged fruitful collaborations with some of the most inventive artists of his time, from André Masson to Jasper Johns, Pierre Alechinsky, Claude Viallat and David Hockney.
The result of a collaboration between the Zervos Collection and the Picasso Museum, this exhibition catalogue highlights Piero Crommelynck's collaborations with major artists such as Picasso, Masson, and Hockney and establishes sensitive dialogues between paintings, engravings, drawings, and sculptures. Through an essay, an unpublished interview and an illustrated catalogue, it reveals the key role of the engraver as a craftsman and catalyst for artistic experimentation, offering a valuable record of the workshop.
