Richard Serra's (1938-2024) Reversal drawings use two identical rectangular sheets of paper that are placed side by side in a vertical or horizontal format, with the black and white areas reversing from top to bottom (or left to right). The black area on the top (or left) sheet is white on the bottom (or right) sheet, and the white area on the top (or left) sheet is black on the bottom (or right) sheet in a figure/ground inversion.
This exhibition catalogue is the most comprehensive presentation of the Reversal drawings ever published. It reproduces the thirty-three drawings on show and documents the series in its entirety.
