Dedicated to the most remarkable works of statuary preserved in the collections of the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, this book presents a hundred or so works from Africa, Oceania, the Americas and South-East Asia, chosen for their formal inventiveness, their diversity of materials and uses, and for their insignificance.

Documented and richly illustrated, the book approaches statuary through what is most immediate: line, volume, material and colour. Each work is reproduced in full page and accompanied by a short note.
