Tamayo: The New-York Works
Auteur(s) : Carmen Ramos
Exhibition at the Smithonian American Art Museum, Washington, 3 November 2017 - 18 March 2018
Mexican American artist Rufino Tamayo (1899-1991) is best known for his boldy-colored, semi-abstract paintings.
This exhibition catalogue focuses for the first time on Tamayo's work during his time in New York City, where he lived from the late 1920s to 1949, through sixty works: early woodcuts and bold canvasses, paintings depicting the modern city, and celestial-themed compositions.
