Vincent van Gogh à Saint-Rémy-de-Provence
Auteur(s) : Collectif
Vincent van Gogh arrived in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence on 8 May 1889 and voluntarily admitted himself to a mental hospital. During his year-long stay, he produced nearly 150 paintings, including some of his most famous works – The Starry Night and Almond Blossom – drawing decisive inspiration from the village's landscapes, light and culture.
This book looks back at Saint-Rémy during Van Gogh's time and the essential welcome he received at the Saint-Paul hospice, which allowed the artist to paint freely despite his illness. It examines the subjects that marked his painting and shows how the town has continued to celebrate his legacy ever since.
