Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013) is acknowledged throughout the world as one of the greatest contemporary artists of Chinese origin. His painted work represents some 1900 paintings dated between 1935 and 2008, when he decided to stop working with oil paints. During his lifetime, he collected all the information he could about his work, in order to keep a record and ensure its continued existence. These archives, initiated under his supervision, have been the basis for this book.
Edited by Françoise Marquet, the artist's widow, and Yann Hendgen, Artistic Director of the Zao Wou-Ki Foundation, this second volume of the catalogue raisonné of the Chinese artist's paintings is devoted to the years 1935-1958.
