Armand Petersen : oeuvres complètes 2024

Nouveauté

Auteur(s) : Jean-Marc Bauquier

Armand Petersen (1891-1969) studied goldsmithing and chasing at the École d'Arts Industriels in Geneva, and moved to Paris in 1924, where he regularly exhibited his work at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries, as well as those organised by the Société des Artistes Décorateurs. In 1927, he exhibited alongside Sandoz, Bigot, Artus and Pompon at the first ‘Animaliers’ exhibition organised by the Brandt gallery. The critics took notice of this new artist, who never ceased to strike the right balance between morphological exactitude and expressive tension, supported by supple, smooth lines.

This new catalogue raisonné brings together all the information known to date on Petersen's work in 175 works, including several previously unpublished works, the entire archive, lots auctioned between 1993 and 2024 by 95 auction houses in 8 countries, complementary proof editions and recent and archive photographs. Each work is accompanied by detailed notes.
