On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the artist's death, this exhibition catalogue brings together paintings and drawings by the artist who was the official painter of urban life, willingly taking on the features of his contemporaries by detaching himself from the revolutionary eloquence and bourgeois prudery of his time.
