Exhibition at the Gianadda Foundation, Martigny, 12 December 2025 - 14 June 2026

The print collections of the library of the Institut national d'histoire de l'art, heir to the Bibliothèque d'art et d'archéologie founded by couturier and patron Jacques Doucet (1853–1929) in the early 20th century, document the extraordinary inventiveness of artists in the practice of engraving throughout the centuries.

This exhibition catalogue brings together a selection of 178 masterpieces of engraving from the INHA library by some of the greatest artists, including Goya, Manet, Munch, Käte Kollwitz, Ellsworth Kelly and Vera Molnár. This exceptional presentation of modern and contemporary works reveals the immense creativity of artists in the field of printmaking throughout history. It offers a unique perspective on both the uniqueness of Jacques Doucet's collection and the dynamism of its most recent developments.
