2nd edition
From humble beginnings in Minnesota, interior designer Jed Johnson (1948-1996) rose to fame in the 1970s in New York via the Warhol Factory and to the highest echelons of the design world. In its January 2010 issue, Architectural Digest magazine named him one of the "20 greatest designers of all time". His client list is impressive: Pierre Bergé, Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, Richard Gere and Barbara Streisand. Yet he has never lost his shy humility, generous spirit and quiet grace.
Through a series of essays, project photographs and personal photographs, this book traces Jed Johnson's life, career and influences, as well as his special relationship with Andy Warhol. Many previously unpublished photographs are included, by leading photographers including Cecil Beaton, Francesco Scavuello, Billy Name, Jack Mitchell, John Hall, Elizabeth Heyert and Warhol himself.
