For her first major exhibition in France, Kiki Smith (1954-), one of the most influential American artists of her generation, provides in this book unpublished comments that illuminate the richness of a universe in which women, representing the human race, dialogue with nature and the cosmos alongside animals.

The artist thus rewrites tales and legends, the great biblical stories, and gives voice to saints and witches.
