This exhibition catalogue, published on the occasion of the exhibition celebrating the 500th anniversary of his birth, traces the rise of the young Tintoretto (1518-1594) during the first years of his career, between 1537 and 1555. The artistic ambition and creative power of the young Venetian master are highlighted through paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures dealing with religious and allegorical, mythological and erotic themes - not forgetting his portraits.
