Exhibition at the Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg, 24 April – 18 October 2026
By awarding the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize to Anish Kapoor (1954–), the City of Duisburg and the Rhineland Regional Council are paying tribute to one of the great visionary artists of our time. The Indian artist works with forms, colours and materials that engage us on both a sensory and an intellectual level. They prompt us to ask the following question: how can we represent that which is intangible and invisible – the very essence of being human?
From his iconic pigment-based works to his monumental mirrored sculptures, this exhibition catalogue highlights the radical sensuality and transformative power of his work. An exclusive interview with the artist offers an in-depth insight into the philosophical and spiritual origins of his creative process.
