Produced to mark their exhibition at the Grand Palais during the Fine Arts Paris fair, this book pays tribute to the virtuosity of French sculpture during the reign of Louis XIV.

Through a carefully curated selection of rare works, it brings the spirit of Versailles back to life and celebrates the genius of the artists who shaped the splendour of the court. Inspired by the famous historical collection of the sculptor François Girardon, this volume takes the reader on a true aesthetic journey spanning the years 1650 to 1750.

More than thirty masterpieces are reproduced and analysed, including precious marbles, chiselled bronzes, carved stones and delicate terracottas. The illustrations highlight the details, textures and dramatic power of Baroque and Classical sculpture.
