The work of Pierre Soulages (1919-2022) was soon recognised internationally as one of the most important of the second half of the 20th century. The Centre Pompidou devoted a retrospective to him in 2009, and Rodez, his home town, inaugurated a museum to house the artist's works in May 2014.

These first 3 volumes of the catalogue raisonné of Soulages' work by Pierre Encrevé bring together all the artist's works produced between 1946 and 1997.
